About Me.

Hi! I’m Kirsten.

I’m a comedy writer and essayist, currently based in Los Angeles, California.

My love of comedy comes from the nights during my childhood that I’d sneak out past bedtime to watch the Colbert Report on my family’s living room TV. After starting at California State University, Long Beach, I started pursuing comedy as a career. I quickly became a regular contributor at the Grunion, the university’s satirical newspaper, and became the lead editor for the publication in 2018, the first woman to hold the position. After graduating in 2019 and taking a quick hiatus from artistic endeavors to work for Elizabeth Warren’s presidential campaign, I’ve dedicated a full time to focus to writing.

When I’m not working on funny stuff, I dedicate time to writing essays about social justice issues I believe in. I frequently explore issues such as disability rights, mental health, gender equality, and racial issues and am currently a journalism fellow for URGE - Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equality.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and American Sign Language Linguistics from California State University, Long Beach. I’m currently a master’s candidate in Linguistics at the same institution.
